The Watchlist needs to be renamed

The word Watchlist nowadays means a list of titles AVAILABLE to watch.

On streaming services, they have either no button or a different button for films of interest, but not available to see.

This is a _very_ common question on the forum: How do I watch the titles on my Watchlist?

And the answer almost always turns out to be that they added titles without any watch options, so they can't.

Think of all the frustrated people who don't bother to pose that question here.

Given that the IMDb Watchlist notifies you when a title is RELEASED, maybe the new name could be related to that.

Watchlist: The concept of a watchlist has evolved in the past two decades, fostering confusion on IMDb.

bderoes,

Sadly, the term Watchlist implies that one can watch the media on IMDb.

Here are some other possibilities:

  • under consideration
  • wish list
  • registry
  • want to watch
  • future
  • potential
  • desired
  • anticipated
  • sought
  • contemplated
  • considered
  • planned
  • chosen
  • targeted
  • preferred

Has this confusion finally reached critical mass?
