Recommendations

You used to have a really good area to get recommendations for movies based on previous ratings, and watchlist items. I'd love to see that come back. The way it is now seems to be really limited to what is currently released and only shows a limited amount of suggestions.

@MovieBuff2022  Thanks for the problem report.  This appears to be a problem which we have just reported to the web team.  The What to Watch section has a Top Picks tab which is intended to have a wider range of personal recommendations than the same widget on the home page, however, on the website this is now an unexpectedly smaller selection, sorry.

You can still access close to 150 personal recommendations via the same link on the iOS and Android app start screens.  Only the web is affected.

Thanks for drawing this to our attention.

@Col_Needham Thanks! I'd love to also see the recommendations on the app expanded too. A bit more personalized to movie tastes rather than just what the top movies are, if possible.

@MovieBuff2022  The recommendations are personalised so perhaps you have been engaging with other top movies?

Right now on the IMDb iOS app my recommendations include titles going back to 1930 and a healthy mixture of decades, countries and title types (movies, shorts, TV-series and documentaries).  Given I have already seen 14,000 movies, I am not the easiest person for whom recommendations work, but I am always pleased with the IMDb set, even if I am a little biased :-)

They are sort of personalized on the Home Screen, like it will bring up 150. But when I go here:

https://imdb.com/watch

The layout is soooo much better than the Imdb app on Android! It shows way more movies under "most popular by genre" (although even then, it'd be awesome to get a filter there to look by year). On Android you only get 100 movies (I know that sounds like a lot but honestly it only shows movies in the last few years usually as top movies, so it'd be cool to get more of an option.

And I know I'm reaching here lol, but it'd be so cool to have a unique recommendation that let you go way more than 250 and to be able to filter those recommendations by genre (while still keeping the same # of recommendations). Like as it is now, if you filter your recommended list, you maybe drop down to a certain number, instead of more getting populated based on that filter.

Plus, when you go to that watch link I mentioned above, it shows you new movies on other streaming sites! The Android app doesn't have that. So that'd be another cool feature!

@MovieBuff2022  Thanks for the feedback.  Since this is less of a problem thread now and more of an idea thread, we will move it back to being an idea so it can be tracked over time and others can comment / vote too.
