Read-only API+webhook for IMDb Lists and Watchlists
I’d love IMDb to offer a read-only API for user Lists and Watchlists for use with all the countless services everyone uses these days.
The ideal version would be authenticated read-only access to my own lists, with optional webhook notifications when a list changes. That would avoid third-party apps constantly polling IMDb every minute just to check whether anything changed.
A good practical setup could be something like this:
A user connects their IMDb account to another app or service, gives read-only permission for their Watchlist/Lists, and that service can then keep in sync. If instant updates are possible, IMDb could send a small “this list changed” notification. If not, the app could still check efficiently every so often without needing to scrape IMDb pages.
For many watch tracking apps, request tools, or personal automation services, this would make IMDb much more useful as the main place to save movies and TV shows.
IMDb title IDs, title type, list order, date added, and last updated time would be enough. I don’t need full IMDb metadata or commercial API access for this use case.
I would happily pay for IMDbPro for this feature alone.
Any chance? :^)
