Ratings: Better Movie Rating System

To help get a more accurate rating of films their should be an algorithm/ program that presents you with two films from your ratings list. The user then uses the arrow keys to indicate which movie they believe is best. After many many trials and multiple comparisons the algorithm should be able to determine an accurate rating for the users watched films. I believe this would be a fair and interesting method of assigning movies a rating.

It is a different way to do it, I'm not sure about better. It helps differentiate movies that a user gave the same amount of stars. So on an individual level it has its advantages but overall I'm not sure it would be better. The star system is something that has been there from the beginning I don;t think they would be willing to change it. http://www.flickchart.com/ uses the format you are referring to.

I probably shouldn't have said better, maybe more accurate? Because you are right the star system is so easy and intuitive for users.

It's more for people like me who have watched and rated a load of movies, it's hard to fairly compare them all - and this method may be an effective way of comparing and differentiating them.

I'll checkout flickchart though!

Yeah, not trying to promote another site on an IMDb related one :) . But I know IMDb users that use flickchart as a way to narrow down their personal favorites and compare their tastes more.
