Quality of movie trailers

The video quality, and often also the audio quality, of your movie trailers on your site is not competitive with what I can easily find elsewhere on the internet. It is below customer expectations in the year 2026.

I often go to IMDB to check out a new movie, and then I look at the ratings, genre, and read a little bit on the page. But when it comes to watching the movie trailer, I am often disappointed by the quality of the video, even for newly released movies. It's understandable for some older movies, but it should still be worked on.

It is often low resolution and compressed with a low bitrate. It should be at least 1080p, but I think you should set the standard at 4K in 2026. The audio is part of the movie experience as well, and a lot is missing in your trailers. This could be improved as well. A simple E-AC3 with a low bitrate or Opus, similar to streaming services, would make a big difference.

I think this is a huge problem for IMDB. Despite that you have a dominating market position, this directly drives users off your platform and onto competing platforms. As they get used to other platforms, they may not come back to IMDB.
