Persistent bug that prevents searching for non-features

When searching for titles, the searches are very good in some places on the IMDb site, while very bad in other places.

Specifically, for at least four years now, there has been a bug that interferes with the ability to search for any titles other than features (e.g., titles like TV episodes, podcast episodes, short films) when editing a user list.

@bderoes and @Pencho15 discussed this bug here four years ago.

The bug looks like this when you try to search for a title when editing a list:

And by the way, the same bug interferes with the ability to find non-features in the quick search results when doing a title search from any IMDb page:
But when you click "enter" and go to the search results for the title page, it correctly pulls up the desired titles (note that these titles are all shorts and episode titles):

In the thread linked to above from four years ago, @bderoes said this was a "known bug."
Did IMDb staff ever announce any position on whether bug will be fixed?

This is actually acknowledged in the last point of

And this one says the search suggestions in the site search is not intended to include all titles:

Thanks for the quick and helpful responses. At least for adding titles to user lists, I would encourage IMDb to open the search function up to all titles (including shorts, episode titles, podcasts, etc.). In my opinion it would make the experience much better when adding titles to a list.

Thanks @Peter_pbn — as noted @keyword_expert, this is not a bug as such, but a deliberate design choice given the number of collisions between titles of shorts and features.  However, the list search is built upon 12+ year old technology which will eventually be replaced.  It is likely that the replacement will be able to display more context for each matching title beyond the title itself; at which point supporting shorts would be both easier and less confusing.

Hope this helps.
