Next episode default - Alphabetical instead of chronological

You're on an episode page. You click "next."

If the episodes are numbered, the next episode will be the next one in sequence. All is good.

(Example: you're on episode #2.1. You click "next." You'll be taken to episode #2.2.)

But what happens when the episodes are not numbered? You might expect to be taken to the next episode in chronological order.

Instead, you are taken to the next episode in alphabetical order.

This default setting causes me trouble both as a user and as a contributor. Either way, I need to know the next episode in chronological order. The next episode in alphabetical order doesn't help me.

It makes things difficult in many ways.

One example. I'm numbering episodes that don't yet have numbers. The easiest way to number them would be to click "next" and then add the next number. I can't do that. I have two workarounds, but they both take up unnecessary time.

I hope the staff considers changing this default setting. It's driving me crazy.

Hi @jay_spirit -

It is expected behavior to go alphabetically, I will though, turn this into an idea post so other users can vote and we will make sure to highlight it to teams in charge.

Cheers!

@ACT_1

Jay is talking about episodes without season and episode numbers.

@Peter_pbn Yes thanks! It is still how it's supposed to work, I do see though how it would be useful for them to go chronologically reason why we highlight this as an idea to teams in charge.

@Bethanny

Sorry, my reply was to a different reply which has since been deleted.

With a new software update has come the inability to see un-numbered episodes in chronological order at all.

Not even when looking at the entire list of episodes.

Now even they are in alphabetical order.

Please upvote this suggestion. My work was difficult before; now it's twice as hard.

@jay_spirit As a workaround, would the “series” parameter in advanced title search help at all here?  For example, every episode of Stranger Things in chronological order -> https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?series=tt4574334&view=simple&sort=release_date,asc (replace the title ID in this URL with a show you want to test).
