My movie is not showing up in the search

Hi, I added our feature, Part-Time Killer (2022), which recently premiered, to IMDb. It was approved, and the imdb page exists: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22410314/ but it will not show up in search results. I waited a few days, thinking it would need time to populate in the search engine, but it's still not showing up.

I'm stumped and am curious what to do next.

@bjturneriii This is a bug in the new search which is only being shown to a subset of customers, sorry.  We will let the appropriate team know.

Today the name list format in search results has changed on my PC.  All the Roman numerals have disappeared.  But I need those, as I quite often have to merge names, and want to do them in the correct way.  How can I get the original list with all the roman numerals showing next to the names?

@Vande  It looks like you are in the subset of customers in the test group for the new search results.  The results do not include Roman numerals as they raise more questions than they answer. You can still find the Roman numerals on the name pages and in the contribution interface for any names.

We would not recommend merging names based solely on what you can see in the search results. Do you have an example of a use-case for this?

@Col_Needham okay thank you.

What I meant was when I am certain two names are the same person, I will merge them into the lower-numbered name rather than the higher one, as it keeps the site tidier.

@Vande@Col_Needham I do this as well, and am now finding it much harder.

Another issue I'm having: when adding a new credit, I search exact matches for that person's name, and from the list of results I open each person in a new tab so that I can check their filmography to make sure I add it to the correct person if they are already listed. (I also discover a lot of duplicates this way, where people have just created a new page instead of adding to an existing one.)

The new system doesn't seem to allow this; from the list of results I cannot open any of the name pages in a new tab, so the only way to check them is by opening one at a time, which is extremely awkward, especially without Roman numerals, and frankly doesn't seem to be worth the extra time. I'm either going to have to resort to guesswork when I check new names, or just stop bothering altogether.

@tom_wake  Please can you let us know what system and browser you are using? Also, if you have other browsers installed please can you try them and see if youe get the same results?  The following might be useful if you have any ad blockers or plugins installed -> https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/general-information/why-is-imdb-displaying-differently-on-my-browser/GF2ZAR69V859XLHF

On the new search results pages I can still open the results in new tabs on a Windows 10 machine with Chrome.

@Col_Needham I am using Windows 10 with the latest version of Chrome, but I do use an ad blocker so perhaps that's the issue.

Another problem I'm having is that, where there are alternate names, it hides the titles, so if there are a lot of these it can be hard to tell them apart. For example:

My main issue with this.

The grey parts under the name are very hard for me to read, I have to tilt the laptop screen back and lean in just to have a hope of reading the words, the light grey bends too much into the white background. It's extremely difficult to find someone when there's over 50 pages of the same name and there's no numerals (heck I have some numerals for people memorised) and you can't read it or even see what department they are in sometimes, as Tom pointed out above.

Thanks for reading.

Frankly speaking I find this new format of search page useless.

Last week I found that one movie had three pages on IMDb. Today I tried to check are they already merged or not. Unfortunately it's russian movie witch I remembered only by it's polish festival title ("Ingerencja" - tt16257342). When I type this title in search bar IMDb didn't find this movie. Now I can't loof for exact matches, and "more popular matches" give me so far matches like "2017 NHL Playoffs".

I hate it and I like to go back to old search page. If it's not possible at least there should be alink to something like old advanced search page.

I use Firefox on Windows 10. I have no ad-block, but I often reject cookies.

PS. Sorry for my english - I'm not using it very often.

@Khaosth7_dubel  Thanks for the problem report.  The new search is intended to be backwards-compatible with the old one so this appears to be a bug.  Sorry.  We have reported this to the appropriate team.

Why is there no information about the film "2000 Mules" on the data base?

It's broken all of a sudden.  It doesn't seem to be including alternate titles anymore.  I had to search the site through Google to get the right pages for about a dozen films that were easily pulled up before.  Not only are the results inaccurate they seem to focus almost entirely on post-2010 films.  Even when the only film that exactly matches what I searched is from the 1970s, it ends up in extended results (IF it's the display title, otherwise it doesn't show up at all).

@bderoes

CALIFORNIA AXE MASSACRE.  No results.  It used to bring this up...https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075710/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_6, but that was before this format change.

WHEN THE SCREAMING STOPS gets 40-50 hits (the initial 5 all being 2018-2022 films), none of which bear that title.  THE LORELY'S GRASP, is not among them despite being the only film on the site with that exact title.  It's also its most common title.  This is the case with practically every film I try to search via an alternate title.

@zombihntr  Sorry about that.  The new search is supposed to be backwards compatible with the old one so these are bugs.   We will let the appropriate team know about this.

You are correct, we had a regression where we stopped including a subset of alternate titles. The fix for this has been implemented, please let us know if there are any more issues once we bring the new page back up. This also fixes @Khaosth7_dubel's bug report about "Ingerencja" in a different subthread.

Part-Time Killer (2022) has been fixed. We did a search upgrade that made us potentially miss some new people and titles added to the site. All missing titles should now be back.
