My list order is weird

My watchlist and other lists I've made, recently it's been acting up. When I enter an number to place the movie in my list, the movie does not go to the spot, and it messes up the order of the list... When I use the app, it's even worse, and messes up more movie orders. I don't know how to fix that... I've been managing that my watchlist for 10 years.

Hi @mason_ma,

Please could you provide us with links to the lists with this issue? We can then file a ticket with the appropriate team to investigate and fix this for you.

Thanks!

Recently?

It's been doing that forever.

The site's sorting algorithm is unstable.

The workaround is to do your renumbering TWICE.

Actually, I realised there are people who make lists with 1,000+ entries.

Renumbering twice works, with high probability, for the lists I make, which rarely have more than ~60 items.

This is something IMDb should address.

@NYVKE Please see https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbcom/why-has-the-edit-list-feature-been-so-buggy-lately/64db1dd29726276c135a49eb?commentId=64db3ee5a77ded639ccc0b1e  specifically:

The lists system is now some of the oldest software left on the IMDb site and AFAIK it has not been touched in 13 years.  It has been scheduled for replacement when we move the front-end onto the new technology and new design.  It's almost as if the system "knows" its days are numbered :-).
