More Effective Recommendations

Primevideo has taken over IMDB, which is a great move.But till date, even on IMDB or elsewhere can one find suitable recommendations using AI ( earlier fuzzy logic or algorithms ) matching rankings with other users, and then recommending unwatched new movies / shows to each other/s. One spares hours hunting for suitable videos, imagine if these if a superior quality of recommendations were available to users. Something which no one seems to have addressed adequately, Netflix is trying, but it's hardly effective.

I'm been on both Netflix and Prime Video for several years, and for my purposes neither one is worth a poot when it comes to the "recommended films" list. Will/would IMDb do any better? One can hope, but I wouldn't count on it. Good luck.

Okay, what happened to the "edit" link that would let me correct "I'm been"? Does anyone know how IMDb decides whether I've rated a movie higher or lower than another user? I don't have specific example at the moment, but my recollection is that a difference of two stars - say 9 vs 7 - has in some instances been evaluated as my rating a film higher than the other reviewer, and in other instances as my rating it about the same. Is this perhaps relative to the median rating the film received?

My point is that IMDB has a substantially bigger and more fine tuned data base than the others. It's shocking that no one has done something about it till now. The question for me is not whether it gets done or not, what is important for me is to see who takes this initiative and reaps the benefit !!
