Is imdb dying?

A friend, a prof.film critic has said, "Imdb's on the wane. I wouldn't waste a minute thinking about it. It won't exist soon.  That's what happens to most info. You can always put it in your own site or blog.  Imdb will jettison all this info eventually. It's an Amazon property and Amazon never invest or bother with their acquisitions. I wouldn't have any hope for reform or investment."

I said, "I think they should downsize it to being merely an encyclopaedia, and be much stricter because give any fool the option to add anything and well then you can put any old muck, fan films, the Archers, radio shows, ads, student films."
They replied, "I think it will be streamlined. But Amazon don't really care about imdb. Think they will let it slide.
Plus despite being less authoritative, Letterboxd feels much better, less daunting
