Can I get the old layout back? I find the new layout almost impossible to navigate on my pc web browser. Is there a way to revert back to the superior layout we had before?

I don't like the new look of the page. It takes more space than the previous version, meaning more clicks to get around. Even worse, it feels like it runs slower than the older version (more JavaScript?). There is a pronounced and irritating latency before I'm able to page down to get to the content, whereas the older version presented useful information at the very top of the page, and was immediately responsive to scrolling down the page.

It's bad enough that I'm actively looking for alternatives. Congratulations for taking something good and messing it up.

Using Win7, Firefox64. Just cleared my browser history, and so had to log back into imdb. View is totally different on each title, with each page looking like the home page. I found in my user settings where I can select "Show Reference View With Full Cast And Crew" and this gets pages for movies to look close to what I had before (white background, vertical layout), but isn't quite what I had. I don't want to see the FULL cast and crew (makeup, stunts, camera and electrical department) by default. Used to be I could select a link to expand the list.

So how do I get back to what I'm calling "classic view" that I had just a few hours ago? It was in style like the Reference View, but had the content of the normal view with a section for pictures from the movies above the top cast, and then things like trivia, reviews, parents guide, etc.

Help?

Up until a few hours ago, when I would go to a title I had a view that looked similar to this:

http://web.archive.org/web/20200101123521/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/

Now I can't get anything remotely like that without checking the "Show Reference View..." option, which loses a lot of content and gives me WAAAAAY more crew than I want to see.

I guess me clearing my browser history/cookies was a mistake. Now I can't get back to the view I had just a few hours ago. HATE the new layout. I'm on a PC (win7, Firefox). I MUCH preferred the style of pages before. Yes, I can enable "reference view", but that gives WAY too long a list of crew and doesn't seem to have all the content I had before.

Please offer a "Classic View" that has the content of the new style, but in the layout that was previously available.

I've tried using the new IMDB page a few times now, and the layout is so bad, I won't be back. Wikipedia works fine.

The last version of your page was by far better, IMHO. I have an android, my sister an Iphone, and we both have home PCs. On all 3, your new site is terrible.

This is awful. Everything is way too BIG!!!!

It's literally like being screamed at by the internet.

It all takes up too much space. There is absolutely no need for all the spacing, huge thumbnail pictures and large font.

IMDB has been my favourite place to come to for information on movies and television for years, everything was easy to find, all the information was right there, in neat small type and logical order, cast was listed, which I much prefer to having them spread right across my screen, and what is with the HUGE photographs?

I cannot use this, it's just not user friendly for me, so I am now looking for somewhere else to find the information I need.

I miss the old IMDB pages, it's such a shame, but I do not enjoy being screamed at by internet pages, I find it offensive.

Please bring back the old format, or tweak this one to make it smaller, and less aggressive..

If not I have to hope there is somewhere else for me.

I really hope you didn't pay a lot for this upgrade.. It wasn't worth it in my opinion...

Oh, I could not agree more. This new format is awful. I keep IMDB up all the time so that I can check out the show I'm watching. Now I don't even care.

Dear IMDB,

You've done to imdb what windows 10 is to windows 7 - a horrible new interface with too much wasted "white space" - sorry you failed. :(

In some ways, the period from the mid-2000s decade to the mid-2010s was the Golden Age for operating systems, video game consoles, social media sites, so on and so forth. The only things looking semi-decent right now are streaming services. IOT (the Internet of Things) and smart automobiles are a disaster. I'm glad that mine was manufactured before all this "always online" nonsense.

I dunno, I think the 80s were the golden age of computers and games.  The Internet is... a monster of a different sort.  Perhaps I'm a little too old.  I'm not like ancient though.

Actually, Linux has become absolutely amazing in the last fifteen years.  So I will give ya that.

There are a lot of video games for the Commodore 128 that have sadly not seen re-release, for sure, I'd agree. The unfortunate thing about the 1980s was the lack of multi-user operating systems or some variant of them in the consumer market. That kind of stuff, say, Unix, was reserved largely for industrial purposes. I can see why Linus Torvalds was inspired to start a kernel heavily-inspired by Unix. Meanwhile Microsoft had finally made Windows NT available for consumption, way back. Macintosh products were also kind of awesome in the 1980s, and became awesome again decades later with MacOS X. In regards to smartphones, society has probably not yet experienced a golden age for them, or this may be it right now, but so much is impeding on classic tech like ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, automobiles, so on and so forth.

I still remember how in awe I was when in the mid-eigthies I discovered BBSes (later FidoNet). Back then I had an Amiga 500 and one of the first boards I frequented was one in Belgrad, it offered direct chatting and it amazed me that I could communicate this way with users from all kinds of countries (my mother wasn't too pleased with the costs). There were some legendary sysop's back then haha.

I use to put on a suit and tie to sell the Amiga.  Almost didn't like it as much as the new IMDb layout.  Guru meditation failures, over and over again.

Ne. Back then I was about 800 miles away from Belgrad, international calls, that's why my mother wasn't pleased with the costs. There was a national bbs I remember but I had not much of a clue and this one in Belgrad had a thriving Amiga community in comparison. I hear you about Guru meditation failures, haha, but I admired my Amiga. And I had to upgrade because others who had C 64 or Ataris ST sort of laughed about my MSX I although it was certainly superior to the C 64.  So I was saving and saving and then bought the Amiga. But I hadn't to sell them in a suit & tie. Greetings...

Wow, I am kind of surprised by this.  I mean, it takes some tweaking but you can fix up windows 10 interface.  The actual kernel of the O/S is so much better than windows 10.   I find that it operates much more quickly and smoothly than 7 plus the squared out windows without borders as opposed to the rounded edged bordered ones of 7 feels like such and improvement.

The memory handling is far superior in 10 and to be honest in the past 2 years of using it I don't think my system has crashed once due to an error in the O/S itself.

To each their own?

The new page manages to look commercial (like a full-page ad for something like, say, toilet-bowl cleaner) and amateurish at the same time. The old page was a marvel, one of the most sensible Web pages I've ever seen, in the sense that it displayed an incredible amount of detailed information in a compact and easily-digested format. Except for a line of fluff at the start (something I always ignored and skipped, suggestions of similar movies or some such irrelevance), each page was a great model for anyone trying to achieve something similar. All that is gone now. "Reference view" is an improvement but still inferior to the old page. Do I really need a crew list down to the key grip and the boom boy? Not really. The old page hit the magic number - all the important stuff (like alternate titles, DVD release details, etc) without getting ridiculous.

Is there any chance in the release date of a title getting back on top of the page under the title next to the running time?

Also: Since the update the plot outline in the local language is gone. It shows only the english plot outline with no button to change the language or add one in another language. Is this coming back?

@samofnine  Thanks for the feedback.  You can click the year itself at the top of the page to see the full set of release dates.  In the meantime the feedback on this has been passed to the team.

The local language plot outlines was a limited experiment on the old pages.  Thanks to that experiment, we have something much better in mind for the future which is unlocked by the new technology.

Did you actually TEST this new format? Ask people for feedback? Because it just isn't as good as the old one. The display of the cast is separate from the story line which is very annoying. And it isn't as well laid out as it was.

As you know, recently IMDB updated it's UI and I prefer the old one.  Is there any way to roll back to it?

Thanks,

Peter

@pepe2907  The episode guides are still on the page and there are multiple entrypoints depending on which view you are seeking.  For example see the red highlighting added to https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5057054/ below:

Hope this helps

Holy moly, this is bad. I stuck with IMDb when they took away the incredibly invaluable message boards. I may not stick with them through this. Might as well use Letterboxd. Please revert to the old layout!
