For the love of God, please give a compact version. Always have to cater to mobile users over Desktop. These things aren't mutually exclusive! You can tackle both! All you need to do is allow an option to revert to the old design, or offer customization options. The dislike for the new design is ubiquitous. I'm looking forward to all this criticism falling on deaf ears. Compact, compact, compact.

I miss having the genre(s) listed at the top of the page below the title.

It would be very helpful for you to list alternative titles - especially for foreign films. Many Spaghetti Westerns , Hong Kong martial arts flicks and other imports are frequently presented under different names, either in the original language or English. Often, the translations are far from literal. Help us identify those imports more efficiently.

@mark_glass  Thanks for the feedback.  In the case where the original title does not match the main title selected from your preferences or your location, it is shown at the top under the main title (see https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/ if not located in Italy).

You can find other local titles in the “Details” section of the title page or use the “All Topics” menu in the upper right of the main title pages (local titles are on the same page as the individual release dates).  For example, see https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_sm#akas

Hope this helps:

Whose cousin did you hire to redesign the site layout?

It's atrocious and practically unnavigable;

huge amounts of wasted space;

nearly impossible to find the information I want;

it actually makes me feel claustrophobic just to look at it.

Please, at least give us the option to change it back, or better yet, don't fix something that ain't broke.

The new interface is absolutely horrible. How do I go back to the old one.

Here we are again, where the new title page displays the Original title instead of the English title (my settings).

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13339452/

Yet the release info page shows the English:

Too slow.

Information is harder to find.

Everything is too big and the most important thing seems to be the huge add above the title page instead of the actual movie.

I actually used the desktop version of the website in my cell phone because it had more information, now the mobile version with less data and more images is everywhere. And I rather click on a secondary page as fast as possible to get away from this and have access to the fast pages, and useful menu that is still available beyonf the main title page.

Col, listen to your top contributors like Pencho15, they don't like it either, but they are usually more quiet about changes.

Why do you insist on trying to make the internet in my browser look like a smart phone?  Some of us still like using actual computers.

And you would think IMDB, of *all* the web sites out there, would understand some of us have a HTPC setup or similar, so having to scroll five times just to find any actual information on a 46 inch screen or larger really sucks, is hard on the eyes and frankly headache inducing.

Stop trying to chintz out on having both a mobile site and a *proper web site*!  Is this a "Database" of information as described, or is it a dumbed down pictorial version of the internet for children using smartphones???

Epic fail.

Every time you guys do a redesign it's like watching a cherished resource being destroyed slowly from within.  Whoever is designing and/or approving these ux changes needs to be fired.  Seriously.

It's even less like a database now, and more like a clickbait website aimed at the illiterate.  So many people rely on this as a resource, it's very sad to see you actively continue to fxck it up.

And seriously, If you want to make any development to the pages, give more attention to the user account pages. There was a time when we could use the Facebook plugin to leave comments under custom lists. I miss that. Make more options where we can make friends and chat with other users. To track my contributions, I have to go to the account setting. Why the fuck would I have to do that? Why isn't there an individual option for My Contribution under the user tab?  But no, it looks like you guys are more attentive to ruin what does not need any changes.

I’m hating the new website and all the changes. Is there a place where I can get the old side back?

I can’t shrink the page so I have to keep scrolling. Preferred the old page, doesn’t seem compatible with up to date apple

Like almost everyone else also commented, I will just repeat it again:

The new design is HORRIBLE! Here's some reasons why:

1) White text on black background gives me a headache (many people have this same condition - it has to be black on white, please!)

2) The "design" takes up needless loading-time for nothing. I can't use it for anything! It's just a bunch of photos and ads for stuff that I'm not interested in! I just want to read BASIC info about movies/people, not "get blown away by amazing(ly bad) web-design!"

3) The actual information about the movies/people are much harder to find now. The order that we're presented with details seems completely random and illogical - what's the purpose of that? Confusing the readers, so they'll spend more time on the page before they can find what they're looking for?? :-O

4) All the "polls" and "user lists" take up space on the side - NOBODY CARES ABOUT THIS CRAP! And those who care should be able to find it somewhere else. It's just clutter that takes up valuable space on the title pages and distracts the readers.

5) WHY on earth would you split up the cast-list in TWO columns?? That makes no sense whatsoever. NOBODY wants to read through a list left-right, back-again left-right over and over, instead of a straight list. Absolutely MORONIC design.

6) Why is "More like this" placed ahead of the actual storyline of the movie?? It's like placing dessert ahead of the main course on a restaurant-menu. Baffling idiocy.

7) PLEASE provide users with an option to CHOOSE the design they prefer/like! I'm sure 99,9% will choose the old design over the new one, if they only had the OPTION!

P.S: Removing the message boards was still the worst decision the IMDb brass ever made. If you can bring those back again, then we MIGHT not care so much about the garbage design you just implemented (aka "forced upon") on the users.

Agreed on everything you said. Like everything has to be giant nowadays, and all basic information I come to the IMDb for has to be scattered around. Jeepers ... Why can't anything be plain and simple like in the good old days? When everything was basically simple and user-friendly.

So whoever made the new design and forced that upon us desktop users... Thank you for not listening to us and respecting our opinions.

Sincerely, someone who's just one of the dozens of desktop users who refuse to become mobile zombies just because everything must be mobile friendly.

@tv_6ed65i969yx75 Yeah. You've a point here. The IMDb has lots of users, members or not, so some of the users may actually be illiterate like you said. But the staff could at least let us choose to either stay on the new version or go back to the old version and stay there. So if anyone truly wishes to use the new version and eventually look at the big pictures (illiterate or not), that's fine, and I do respect that. :-)

Why is it that every "new and improved" version, is worse than the old version? This new version takes up far too much screen space. Where is the light theme option? Dark themes suck.

Yepp. Like everything has to be dark, and everything has to take up as much screen space as possible. If there was an option, I'd use the light theme.

@trog Agree, everything is all over the place, it's crazy. A lot of the time I split between two windows too and I have to scroll down even further to find the information I need. Everything is gigantic. But, the worst for me is the black background with the white text. I'm not lying when I say it gives me a headache. It's so hard on the eyes. I miss the good old days!

I'll ad another "I HATE this "new" design. It is NOT user-friendly. You've managed to clutter up the page with things that are lacking in substance. I suspect I'll be migrating my time to TMDB, especially after you've managed to get rid of the user-provided content that IMDB used to have, which provided way more useful information than this ridiculous layout.
