INTRODUCING: Family Relations on Name and Bio Pages

INTRODUCING: Family Relations on Name and Bio Pages

We’re excited to announce that we have added family relations details to provide more information on Name and Bio pages. This information can be found under the Personal Details section on name pages under a new Family section. You can now find line-by-line information on:

  • Spouse
  • Parents
  • Children
  • Relatives

In addition to marriage details, you will now be able to find information for siblings, cousins, uncles, grandparents, etc. A full list can be found in the drop down list in the contribution form.

You can contribute this information from under the ‘Biographical Information’ headline and ‘Family Details’ section in the submission form by clicking on the ‘edit’ button from the bottom of every IMDb name page. Alternatively, you can use IMDb Answers to submit this data.

For further details on how and what to contribute, please see our guide here Biographical Data Guidelines - Family Details

Thanks as always for all your feedback – please feel free to post your questions and comments to this thread.

So 'Spouse' replaces 'Husband' and 'Wife"? That's great for same sex couples. Well done.

Is there something that can be done regarding every "niece or nephew" being listed as a "niece or nephew", even if the person's gender is known?

For example, on https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000889/bio we are told that Macaulay Culkin is Bonnie Bedelia's "niece or nephew". Since IMDb already has the information that Macaulay is male, it should be able to identify him as a nephew rather than a niece.
