I have an account... but I have to create a new one... but... I can't because I already have... an account? WHAT???

Hello, mr Wailing Wall. I don't expect much here but as it seems to be the only way to contact support... Here I go.

I have an IMDB-account since way back in 2004. I have a user ID that I can see when I am logged in and everything. I go into settings. I decide to link accounts to Amazon and Google. Ok, So I get to the Amazon login. I enter my credentials. And the only option there is to create a new IMDB account... uh... ok. Seems needlessly convoluted. But I click continue. Then I get a message that I can't create a new account because I already have one. Well, yeah, creating a new account wasn't my idea, it was IMDB's.

So... what the hecking heck is going on here? Do I have an account? I seem to have one, because I can't make a new account with that email adress, It says on my account details how long I've had the account. I have watchlists and everything that an account has. But... for some reason I can't connect the account to another service because I already have the acccount which I need to fo-...  And If I go to Login and Security... it just gives me a sign in page or Create a new account, Like I'm not logged in, but I am as I can see the watchli- ... WHAT THE EFFIN EFF IS GOING ON?!

Hello @jmalmsten,

You can follow these steps to link your Amazon and Google account to your IMDb account:

  1. Go to your account settings. If you are asked to sign in, make sure to select "Login with IMDb".
  2. Once on account settings, go to Linked Accounts and you'll be able to link an Amazon account and a Google account.

You can find a demonstrative video here. If you encounter any issue, I recommend you to contact our customer service following these filters, just below "Solve the issue here" you'll have an option to contact us:

why is this marked as solved?

Why does it say I have 1 comment, but... it also says "No Responses!" so I can't view the said comment?

What kind of alien cryptid logic is used here?

@Michelle

uh, what? huh?

The "instructions" of which you speak is the very thing I have been trying to do. But it won't let me do it because I get stuck in a loop where it wants me to create an imdb-account but I can't because I already have an imdb-account.

Do you not understand the trouble with that?

Also, telling me to make a support ticket for an IMDBpro account makes me wonder what question you did think you were answering. Because I have no IMDBpro account. I never mentioned an IMDBpro account. I was not aware that having an IMDBpro account would be necessary to gain access to this link... I fail to see the relevancy here.

So how is that supposed to help me?

Hello @jmalmsten

You don't need to be subscribed to the IMDbPro membership to contact us using the image with the filters above. However, you can use this other link to contact our customer service.
