I do NOT want to see that

Is there a way to tell the system that while I have not seen a movie or TV series, I know that I do NOT want to.  In other words, I NEVER watch anything labeled Horror or Sci-Fi.

@rayrux Yes, this is possible.  On the IMDb home page in the “Top picks” section, click the “(i)” icon under the relevant poster and then on the pop-up menu which appears, click the thumbs down icon (highlighted in red in the grab below):

This will train the recommendations system to avoid titles like the ones you have tagged.

Hope this helps.

Excellent!  Thanks for the Tip. I just found this app and LOVE IT.

A follow-up question if you don't mind; is there a way to do the same thing to a Genre? e.g.  I don't ever watch Horror, Sci-Fi or Animation shows or movies.

@rayrux No sorry, not specifically by genre for recommendations, but the algorithm will learn over time via your “thumbs down” votes.

Alternatively, you can use advanced title search to find titles excluding these genres.  We have started things off for you at https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&genres=!horror,!sci-fi,!animation,!documentary … use the forms on the left to add further restrictions, and the sort options at the top of the results to change the order (note this required manually adding the “!” before the excluded the genres as the form does not yet support exclusions beyond documentaries).  For an example of a refinement, here’s the same search results but sorted by vote volume and only for English titles released after 1/1/2020 which you have not voted upon -> https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&genres=!horror,!sci-fi,!animation,!documentary&release_date=2020-01-01,&sort=num_votes,desc&my_ratings=exclude&primary_language=en

Hope this helps.

@Col_Needham, You should know that our entire family spent days over Christmas once we discovered your app by rating and adding shows to our wish list.  LOVE LOVE your app.

Now for my follow up question.  In the link you added above, it shows Horror, Sci-fi, and Animated genre were "Excluded".  Is there a way that I can do that?  Some of our family wanted a add other genre to that list.

Lastly, if I rate a show or movie on my watchlist, does it take it off my list(s) knowing that I've now watched it?

Thanks again.

How do I get to the Advanced Title search on my PC and on my iPhone?  As you showed in your last post, I didn't want to see shows or movies that I've already seen because I am still seeing showed I've rated.  Do I have to logout to get those Filters to take effect?

Thanks for your guidance.

@rayrux You can find more help on Advanced Title Search at -> https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/discover-watch/using-the-advanced-search-feature/GLUEUYWPQNPTEVPU

To control whether the results include or exclude titles you have already seen (voted for) use the “Rated by you” section on the left hand side of https://www.imdb.com/search/title/

Hope this helps.
