How to search a series for an episode?

I often want to find a specific episode of a given series.  The title search is difficult to use, because it produces hits from other series or from the names of series. I need a way to search within a particular series for an episode title or portion of same.  How can I do this?

Hello there,

You can try using our Advanced Search. You are able to filter your search with the parameters of your choice.

Thanks, but I tried to find a way to do this using Advanced Search without success before posting here.  Am I missing something?  If not this seems like a glaring omission.

There is a search keyword series=, which you can manually add to the URL of an advanced title search result.

Example:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title=george&series=tt0098904

Or perhaps easier, on the series page under Episodes, click the Top link, which includes this keyword, and then you can add the title= keyword manually:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?series=tt0098904&view=simple&count=250&sort=user_rating,desc&title=george

Thanks, but both of your suggestions seem unnecessarily complicated.  In fact, I had trouble getting them to work as you describe.

There is a search keyword series=, which you can manually add to the URL of an advanced title search result.

Example:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title=george&series=tt0098904

If I perform an advanced title search for the TV series "Traumschiff", I get this:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title=Traumschiff&title_type=tv_series

To get the series ID shown in your URL, I first have to click on the series which was found:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0207932/?ref_=adv_li_tt

The resulting URL does not contain the keyword "series", and adding "&title=Chile" does not change the displayed result.  Instead I have to copy the series ID, go back to the search page and edit its URL to achieve something like the form you suggest:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title=Chile&series=tt0207932

This does indeed deliver the desired result, but I can get there faster and without having to remember the URL format by using an external search machine, e.g.

https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffsb&q=traumschiff+chile+site%3Aimdb.com&ia=web

Or perhaps easier, on the series page under Episodes, click the Top link, which includes this keyword, and then you can add the title= keyword manually:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?series=tt0098904&view=simple&count=250&sort=user_rating,desc&title=george

This is indeed easier, but it took me a while to realize that by "Top link" you meant the "Top-rated" link.
