I've just watched the 1957 movie '12 Angry Men' - and it was absolutely brilliant. It has an IMDb rating of 9/10, the highest rating I've come across.
What's the highest IMDb-rated movie that there is if 12 Angry Men isn't the one?

It depends how you look at it. We can use the advanced search. There are many titles with very high ratings that are based on very few user votes:
https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=,2026-03-22&sort=user_rating,desc
So we could set a minimum number of votes:
https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=,2026-03-22&num_votes=1000,&sort=user_rating,desc
In IMDb's chart of the Top 250 Movies they set a minimum of 25,000 votes and used a special methodology:
