can't watch video trailer since 2-3 weeks

hi,

since about 2-3weeks, i can't watch/play video trailer.

there is no video but the sound in a black-black area.

Default sound always starts in "mute" whereas i activate it each time.

what is the problem ? do you update/change your videoplayer or main ajax/js library framework ?

by example, once i click on the video thumbnail, i go there :

https://www.imdb.com/video/vi1096924953/?playlistId=tt12037194&ref_=vp_rv_ap_0

debuggr console show this error :

Some cookies are misusing the recommended “SameSite“ attribute 38
Ignoring unsupported entryTypes: layout-shift. vi1847248665:1284:10289
Ignoring unsupported entryTypes: longtask. vi1847248665:1284:10800

with this screenshot (no video, only sound i i unmute):

issue is in firefox and google chrome. not in opera. not in edge.

best regards

FYC , i already clean my cookies , try F5 and CTRL+F5 too.

also test in log in/log out and private windows. i have no add-blocker at all.

in other website, there is no problem of video playing at all. (it is not a video driver issue).

i think it is a JS framework issue or your video player ajax widjet component.

shall you name it so, i can test it in a develop test website area.

in the console, i see "jwplayer.core.js" , is this the player you use to start the video ?

@usamike  Unfortunately this is likely to be a local problem as we are not seeing other reports of the problem, and this makes it harder to diagnose.

It sounds like you have tried much of the advice in https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/common-issues/why-is-imdb-displaying-differently-on-my-browser/GF2ZAR69V859XLHF except perhaps trying other browsers and an alternate network (such as a phone based WiFi hot-spot)?  Do either of those help at all?

The other thing to note is that playback of videos on IMDb does depend on us being able to contact the ad server as part of the playback process. If you are rejecting cookies manually or blocking certain of our domains via a VPN / firewall then videos will not play, sorry.

Hope this helps.

what are the minimal releases of each browser requiered ?

" IMDb is compatible with most common operating systems and modern web browsers, such as:

  • Chrome v ??
  • Firefox v ???
  • Safari v ????
  • Opera v ????
  • Edge  v ????  "

shall you complete these FAQ ?

you might have updated a major JS framework who abandoned an old version i guess because, imdb work on the same network but with a very recent firefox.

I cannot update all my browser due to local development.

it cannot be a cookie issue because i already try to clean/erase all and allow the all the new ones.

I also tried to install another new fresh browser : seamonkey  (mozilla fork)

SeaMonkey 2.53.18
Platform: Windows x86
Language: English (US)

and it have the same issue as firefox (no video , only sound):

and another different error in the console debugger :

"Will-change memory consumption is too high. Budget limit is the document surface area multiplied by 3 (389200 px). Occurrences of will-change over the budget will be ignored.

"

As it speak of "px pixel", do you change the minimal resolution resquired for imdb media or screen or computer resolution or OS ? or anything else related to a "pixel" dimension N

@usamike Unfortunately we are unable to assist with local browser specific issues, sorry.  Given everything is fine with some browsers on your system, all we can suggest is seeking support from the providers of the browsers which are not functioning as expected. Sorry that we cannot be of further help.

it is strange because once i updated to firefox 115.0.3 (32-bit) , it runs fine again.

I guess, old firefox users have the same issue and not just me!

but sorry, i can't remind which old (not very old) release of FF i had.

then, considered as solved!
