Advanced search not working as expected
I am trying to search titles using advanced search. The resultant url is https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&user_rating=8.0,10.0&num_votes=7000,&companies=fox,sony,dreamworks,mgm,paramount,universal,disney,warner&my_ratings=exclude Below are few issues I saw: 1. When searched using above I get no results. If I remove all production companies except MGM then it return 5 results. Shouldn't these 5 results be part of first result? 2. Out of the 5 result I get https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056241/?ref_=adv_li_tt but this is not MGM production but Playtime Productions, MGM is the distributor in US. 3. Those 5 results does not have https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0018806/?ref_=adv_li_tt (I have not watched this) )which is of MGM production and should be part of all the above results. This could be some issue with the production companies or something else?

The company parameter does not distinguish between production, distribution, or other company types. Clearly listing more than one company means that the title must have all the companies you list. When I run this search: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&user_rating=8.0,10.0&num_votes=7000,&companies=mgm&my_ratings=exclude&sort=user_rating,asc without being signed into IMDb (so no rating could be present), I get 47 results, but not The Crowd (the title you cited in #3 of your OP.) When I drop the number of votes criteria, https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&user_rating=8.0,10.0&companies=mgm&my_ratings=exclude&sort=user_rating,asc&count=250 I get 54 results, still not The Crowd. When I drop the rating criteria, https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&num_votes=7000,&companies=mgm&my_ratings=exclude&sort=user_rating,desc I get 327 results, but still not The Crowd. When I drop both the rating and the vote count criteria, https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&companies=mgm&my_ratings=exclude&sort=user_rating,desc I get 1801 results, still not The Crowd. But when I change the company used in the search from "mgm" to co0007143, and restore the other criteria, https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&user_rating=8.0,10.0&num_votes=7000,&companies=co0007143&my_ratings=exclude&sort=user_rating,asc I get 29 results, and The Crowd appears. So what does "mgm" mean if not co0007143? When I search https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?companies=mgm I get 2390 results, and the description says "MGM (US)". For https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?companies=co0007143 I get 5958 results, description "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)". Using the feature where both companies must be present, https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?companies=co0007143,mgm I get 242 results. This title has both companies: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021622/companycredits and shows MGM Home Entertainment (2000) (USA) (video), which is company co0027764 ... Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) (USA) (TV), company co0007143 You may want to chase other titles to see whether other companies are included in "mgm", and therefore perhaps co0007143 is the only one missing.

@mirza_umair The main issue here is that, like all sections of the advanced title search page (except Title Type), the “Companies” section uses a logical “and” operator, so when you select all of the companies in this section you are asking for titles which all eight companies made in partnership together — no such titles exist. The next issue is that this is a generic company search, not specifically a studio or production company search, so the titles returned are those on which any company had any role. Hope this helps.
