About my ''IMDB.com website loads way too slowly!'' topic
My topic was closed and merged with some other thread, but I couldn't find a way to respond to Col Needham. And I couldn't find the posts made in the original thread, probably because this forum is a huge mess and is very unhandy to work with. But anyway, I don't think it should have been merged, since the issue that I'm describing is about overall slowness of IMDB, not so much about the new design in terms of looks.
We are happy with the choices we have made with the new technology platform. We track a full suite of performance measurements, including LCP, and the pages are already faster for most customers compared to the old pages. As we noted in one of the later posts around the launch of the new name pages.
Perhaps there's something wrong with the way you guys are tracking stuff, perhaps it's not based on real life? I'm sure if you load IMDB from the intranet with speedy machines, you might not notice the shortcomings.
While I know for a fact that I get to see this problem on many PC's, also from friends and family, with adblocking disabled. You must not forget, you will literally see the three loading dots displayed when IMDB is busy loading stuff. The old IMDB was way faster to load because it didn't have all of the extra JavaScript bloat.
Note the point emphasized in bold on client-side rendering which may address your issue once we are able to activate it.
Can you tell me a bit more about this ''client-side rendering'' stuff? So this hasn't been implemented yet? And what is it supposed to do?
