A ratings system for actors and actresses.

I think it would be great if a ratings systems, much like the one that currently exists for films & TV series, was added to the pages of all actors and actresses on IMDb.

Of course, users would simply be giving a rating to each actor based on how good (or bad) they think they are at their craft; acting.

It would be interesting to then have top lists, much like the "IMDb top 250", but listing all actors/actresses in order of the highest average rating, and perhaps also to have the ability to filter by gender, age, and maybe even film genre (although this would probably be more complicated to implement).

At this time we are not planning to extend our rating system to include casting votes for people; this may or may not change in the future. We do however track the popularity of actors/people via the MOVIEmeter ranking system displayed on IMDbPro.com.

If you are a Facebook user, you can also 'like' a person's page via the 'Like' button on their page.

Is it possible to se avarage rating on all the movies an actor has stared in. Like if ActorX participated in 4 movies with 5,6,7 and 8 stars he will get a 6,5 score.. Would also be nice to have a toplist

So if there was a supporting actor with 4 lines in Movies like Fight Club, Inception or the Dark Knight he would average like 7-8, while actors like DiCaprio have movies rated at 3-4 at the start of their careers that would bring their avg down. That would be a broken system

A major problem with this, and of course, it could be limited to deceased actors, is that an actor's work is not complete if there is still opportunity to do more work. So, with a film, it's done and complete and can be assessed. Ratings for an actor's work can be inaccurate if they do one bad film, get rated, then proceed to be the best actor ever. Users who no longer visit or don't go back and change votes will be giving inaccurate ratings. Same thing with the reverse. I could win a best actor oscar, then proceed to be terrible for the next 20 years. Would ratings of 10, given after my award winning year, be an accurate representation of my work? Probably not.

The MOVIEmeter rankings are fluid based on interest for the actor.

Just my two cents

I would love it, instead of rating the actor overall, to have the ability to rate an actor's performance in each movie on the movie page. There are some movies that I didn't particularly enjoy, but did like one or two individual performances. So it'd be nice to give that actor/actress kudos on the film.

I love this, on the list of actors/characters they could add the rating on the left hand side. Good idea ;D
