@Steffe73 This will be an issue with Trakt and not IMDb, sorry.  Please report this to Trakt technical support.

I have but still sure this is a IMDb issue and not a trakt issue, since this started after the IMDb update

I have posted both trakt forums and IMDb forums for help.

Here's what Google has to say about controlling whether links between apps open the app or redirect to the website:

To control how links open on an Android device, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Opening links and toggle the setting to enable or disable it globally, or adjust it for individual apps by selecting them from the main Apps list. Some devices may have slightly different navigation, such as Settings > Apps > Default apps > Opening links, where you can turn the feature on or off or disable it for specific apps.

Sorry but this doesn’t concern a android device but apple iPad, this problem doesn’t seem to affect iPhone,

but seems to affect most apps on iPad so not only Trakt, have tried another app that I also with IMDb and problem also occurs there so this is a IMDb problem/error

And I don’t see this option >Default apps > Opening links, where you can turn the feature on or off or disable it for specific apps. maybe I have to ask apple support maybe they are more helpful/useful

i have lates iOS installed

You posted this in the Android app category: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/topics/imdb-app-android-fire-devices/5f4951c762e5fc53cfeb955f so we assumed your issue was with Android.

Below is the same advice from Google for iOS; note that you control this experience and it is sticky so if you open the IMDb link in the IMDb app via the "long press" from Trakt, it should swap back to using the IMDb app everywhere:

"To open a link in its specific app Long-press the link: Instead of tapping, press and hold the link. A pop-up menu should appear. Select "Open in App": From the menu, tap the option that says "Open in App" or a similar phrase"

@Steffe73 The iOS app team have identified the source of the problem and we are working on a fix.  Thanks again for the problem report.

Hi @Steffe73,

The issue has now been corrected. However, it could take 24-48 hours to propagate.

If you need it working right away, we recommend deleting and reinstalling the IMDb app.

Otherwise, just wait a day or two and it should start working on its own.

Thanks for your report and patience! Please let us know if it is still not resolved for you.

New question after latest update 10(?)) February-2026 regarding iOS (iPhone and iPad)

regarding refining.

is it intentionally removed or a bug.

I can’t refining what I have watched and just see episodes left. As I could before update. Now I just get marking and shareing buttons. On iPad and iPhone, iOS

the refine button is gone so I could see only episodes left not the whole season

@Steffe73 I don’t wanna have to scroll down to see what’s left. That’s is what I use the refine button for to see only what I have watched or what’s left to watch

hope this clarifies the question

@Steffe73  Sorry for the delay.  This functionality was removed as part of an update to the episode pages in the app, sorry.  The good news is that we are looking at adding more extensive support of watched vs. unwatched titles throughout the app, so it will likely return. We do not have a time frame for when that might be at the moment.

If this helps at all in the meantime, you can achieve the same filtering and, more powerfully, not constrained to single seasons, via a hidden feature in Advanced Title Search on the web (and this works in a mobile browser on your phone too).  In the case of NCIS: Hawai'i the link is https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?my_ratings=exclude&count=250&sort=release_date,asc&series=tt14218674

For other shows you can either manually replace the title ID (tt14218674) with the ID of the other series, or you can navigate to the episodes page for the show on the web, click the "Top-rated" view above the episode list, scroll to the end of the top rated episodes and click "Show more" which in this example would take you to https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?count=250&series=tt14218674&sort=user_rating,desc and you can then use the "Rated by you" refinement filter in the lefthand side of the page to exclude the titles you have seen.  You can bookmark/favourite/save these links in your browser for each show you are tracking.

Hope this helps.

Sorry , not much ( to hard not user friendly) I tried pointless UK, season 5.

as this case it is pointless that have 50+ episodes

but thx for answer.

then I know, something like will return in hopefully near future

this was a little better, but don’t tell me my next episode to watch, both ratings wise and seen wise.

i did like that you now can mark something watched without rating it, since it happens a lot you have seen something long time ago and don’t remember what you thought.   ;-)

best regards from Sweden

@Steffe73 Thanks, yes, we appreciate it is not the easiest solution, but we hoped it would be better than nothing.  A few more points:

  1. We will be adding "Watched" support to Advanced Title Search (ATS)
  2. To see more than 50 results, note how the example I gave above includes the parameter "&count=250" so for Pointless that would be https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?count=250&series=tt1509677&sort=release_date,desc
  3. You can change the sort order in the search results if you select your next episode on a basis other than the release date.  You can also further filter the episodes via other options on the lefthand side of the ATS page.

We will pass your feedback along to the team.

@Steffe73 Oh yes, sorry, I forgot to include the "exclude" filter in the example URL above, it is: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?my_ratings=exclude&count=250&series=tt1509677&sort=release_date,desc
