Solved

Recent unidentified ads

Okay, I get the whole advertising paid free app thing, but this app is becoming a total exercise in obscurement of actual content, and abysmal user interface with inconvenient placement of ads designed to cause accidental clicks.

It used to be just Amazon ads, which again, I get that. But now, as of two days ago, there are quarter page ads showing up that appear to be third party marketplace seller ads!? Often with suggestive images, that make using IMDB feel scummy. One escaped me, but I've attached a screenshot of one I caught. There is no Amazon identification attribute but clicking for more info, the Amazon cross context behavioral ads page comes up.

I object to the suggestive images in these new ads, the intrusiveness of all of your ads, and the utter disregard for an intentional user friendly interface.

Please grant your users the option to elect a fee based ad-free version of the app. And I'll add to that the suggestion that PRIME members be offered the ad-free version as part of the PRIME membership benefit.

Hello @sueasidleATgmail,

I'm sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced. IMDb displays both static and interactive advertisements. We understand that certain advertising formats may be more disruptive or demand greater user engagement compared to standard banner advertisements.

Therefore, we continuously collaborate with our advertising partners to significantly reduce how often such ads appear, striking an optimal balance between effective promotional visibility and preserving excellent user experience on the site.

For more information regarding ads, please visit our help page.

We appreciate your understanding!

@Jon Your reply reads like a boilerplate copy/paste. Yes, I abhor the onslaught of intentional, obtrusive ads - but my original post was to report the seemingly unidentified, suspicious, suggestive ads that have recently been served. I sent examples in my original post, my second (reply) post and I have another attached to this post. You have not addressed this specific point with your reply. I do not expect to see such questionably sourced suggestive ads in your app. Unless there is some acknowledgement of this as an issue, and some indication of agreement that it is inappropriate, and steps will be taken to remove these from the app, I will no longer look at this app as anything more than garbage. It will be uninstalled.

Hi @sueasidleATgmail,

Thank you for posting and sharing the specific ad and placement. It's really helpful for us as we work with ad partners. This is not the intended experience, and we are looking into it further.

Thanks for the acknowledgement. Here, have a few more examples from this evening.
