We have never had the ability to swipe to the next/previous episode on the Android application. What I believe you are referring to is the ability to swipe left and right through seasons.
Tap "ALL EPISODES" from the top of a TV page such as The Walking Dead and you can swipe left and right to navigate through season's of the show.
Ok maybe it was the iPhone app? I am now on Android. It would be very helpful to swipe through episodes, otherwise you have to keep going back to episode list in between every episode,,
