Add watchlist search feature

My watchlist is over 1,000 titles. How to search for a film instead of having to scroll endlessly??

Hi Jim,

You can use Advanced Title Search to filter by (or exclude) your Watchlist titles:

https://www.imdb.com/search/title?lists=watchlist

If you do not have access to the full IMDb desktop site per Steve's reply, do you have specific examples of the kind of watchlist searches you would want to perform and why?  This might help guide you to a solution on the app or inspire the creation of some new functionality.  Thanks.

I do have access to the desktop site but because I use the iOS app on my iPad it would be much more convenient if I could do a search on the app.

The reason for wanting this is that I can then offer the iPad to friends when they visit so that they can search through my movie lists to select one they want to watch. I have just tried the Advanced search on my desktop (iMac), that does indeed turn up the sample movie I searched for and which is on my watchlist, but there is a big disjoint/disconnect between my list of 1,000+ movies on the iPad and the results shown in the desktop search--I don't want to see lots of suggestions about other films.

Being able to search my watchlist would be ideal, as info on the movie (if I have it) is immediate, and of course I don't have to sit people down in front of my computer in order for them to see which films I have... Anyway, isn't a basic search by title pretty basic and fundamental to using a user-generated list of any kind?

I envisage a simple box at the top of my watchlist page on the iPad, I enter a movie title (eg Gladiator), and hey presto, my watchlist scrolls down to the entry 'Gladiator'. Perfect! The ability for the search facility to scroll through my list would be ideal, which will leave me immersed in my list rather than, as with the desktop Advanced search, showing the film entry at the top of the search page, isolated from the list. In other words, the search facility I propose would keep me "within" my list, and act as a kind of super scrolling option, letting me move organically and speedily through my film collection.
Also, this method would allow the inputting of a partial title name or even a single letter, eg 'H', to take me to the first film in my watchlist beginning with H, useful if I have in mind a film whose full name I can't recall, only that it begins with H, This would make life so much easier...

As it is now, I have to scroll and scroll and scroll through potentially hundreds of movie entries in order to get to the film I'm searching for. Somewhat tedious and out of date I would suggest.

Thank you.

Thanks. We will convert this to an "Idea" thread (and adjust the subject slightly) for future consideration and so other people can comment and vote.

Great! Thank you Col. I'm really surprised no-one else with more than 50-100 films in their lists has offered the same feedback... Are they happy with the tedium of scrolling scrolling scrolling?
