UK Miniseries Late 80's early 90's

Miniseries (2-3 episodes) I saw on TV in the UK in 1992 so I know it's no later than that. We set in the 20's-30's I think. Two young men and a young woman in either a threesome or a love triangle. I think one of them gets killed. Not a lot to go I know but it's driving me crazy that I can't remember what it was called.
