Trying to remember a movie

I could use some help remembering an old movie which features a scene where the male lead (whom I always seem to remember being Danny Kaye??) is (I think) trying to make a child laugh by showing all the different ways people cry. The different types of criers, per se. It’s a hilarious little scene, and I remember best the comedian/lead’s impersonation of a person who cries but never makes a sound-very funny.  Anyone have any recollection of a scene like this?  It is probably from something super obvious that is just escaping me, but it is driving me nuts!  Thanks in advance!
