Trying to find the name of a film -

I could be wrong but think its made between 1980-1990, but fairly sure its before 1993. I am trying to find out the name of a film where a boy falls in love with a girl, but the girls father disapproves. Later in the film, there is a fire where the boy saves either the girl or the Father.
