Small red alien / monster in kitchen. Help with title...

I remember catching a few minutes of something on TV late one night in the eighties.  I have no idea whether it was a TV episode or a film, but this was the content.  A women is in a kitchen and there is a small table in the room.  She leans slowly over the table, expecting to see something on the floor.  We see from her POV, a small, maybe two foot tall, red creature.  I remember it being pillar box red in colour, from head to toe.  I think it had small eyes, maybe antennae - not sure about that, and possibly little tufts of hair around the head.  It was goblin-esque in its appearance, but completely red.  I can't remember whether or not the woman screamed or what happened to her after she saw the creature.  I have asked so many horror/sci-fi fans about this and no one recognises it.  It can't have been later than the eighties, possible earlier.  Does anyone have any ideas at all?
