Singing clown in gangster film

I’m trying to recall a film that contains a clown singing opera.  The clown is all dressed in a white baggy outfit with a pointy hat and large fluffy buttons.  I believe actor was portraying the clown ‘Caruso’ singing ‘Vesti La Giubba’ but I could be wrong on these details.  It was short performance in a larger film, which I thought was a gangster film.  I’ve researched singing clowns in gangster films but have come up blank.  Just in case if someone suggests it, it isn’t one of  Caruso biography films ‘The Great Caruso (1951)’ or ‘Caruso (TV Movie 2012)’.
