Searching lyrics of film songs

Bonjour,

I would like to find the lyrics of songs in John Ford film "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon".

There is a song "She wore a Yellow Ribbon" but in the opening of the film the words of this song have been changed: I would like to find the exact words as in the film.

Thank you.

Would this be what you're looking for?:

As heard over the opening credits of the 1949 John Ford/John Wayne film "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon":

Round her neck she wore a yellow ribbon She wore it in the winter and the merry month of May When I asked her, "Why the yellow ribbon?" She said, "It’s for my lover who is in the Cavalry" Cavalry (Cavalry), Cavalry (Cavalry) She said, "It’s for my lover who is in the Cavalry" Cavalry (Cavalry), Cavalry (Cavalry) She said, "It’s for my lover in the U.S. Cavalry"

Yes! Exactly... But it is only the first couplet, there is a second one which, I think, is a variant of another song "the girl I left behind".

Hmmm . . . Haven't been able to find a transcription of that one.

Yes, the second song is "The Girl I Left Behind Me."

https://www.musicanet.org/robokopp/usa/thegirli.html

lyrics:

I'm lonesome since I crossed the hill,
And o'er the moor and valley,
Such heavy thoughts my heart do fill,
Since parting with my Sally.
I seek no more the fine and gay,
For each but does remind me,
How swift the hours did pass away,
With the girl I left behind me.

@tom_alger

Thank you! That's what I was seeking for.

I make french subtitles for this film and I want to include the lyrics of the songs in english. I don't know why lyrics are systematically discarded from subtitles...

Thank you.
