sci-fi movie b/w of 40's, 50's 60's. - island, submarin, lion with wings

tried advance search and it didn't find. please help me: searching a sci-fi movie b/w of 40's, 50's 60's. What I remember is a sort of dr moreau island, where a submarin arrives. this doc does experiment and for example has a lion with wings. Could not find the title island . thanks in advance for your help.
