Please help with naming a film, from my description

This is a film I saw as a child, and a particular scene in it has stuck with me for 50 years - but I can’t remember what the film was called! It may even have been a TV show, for all I know. Can you help?

It’s in black & white. A lady is being terrorised by a man, possibly two men, who have invaded her house. In the end, she secretly gets hold of two knives, and is sitting on the sidewalk outside the house. One of the men comes up behind her to take her back in, and she thrusts the knives upwards, into his eyes, blinding him.

That’s it, all I can remember. Does it ring any bells?
