Name of a classic movie - once again :)

A discussion on social media spurred my memory of a classic movie involving ants,  big ants, that could be communicated with via electronic signals or some kind of voice interpretation, i dont recall it vividly.

The movie went on about them,  but some kind of system malfunction occurred that cooled the electronics to where it could only be used at night from cooler ambient temps. 

Does anyone know the name of this movie?    Someone suggested "THEM" ( my god for the love of me i cannot get link tags to work again! )  and I will check this out, but asking for more suggestions.
