Movie where the Protagonist is Foreseeing his Death

There was a movie i watched as a kid 1980's onward, probably a lesser known title, where one of the characters or even the protagonist has this vision of a blue cross throughout the movie, and its a group of them going through some kind of sewers and I think they are knights traveling back in time? But there is this part which later marks a shocking death as one of them falls from the top of a clock tower, or a tower of some sorts and falling to his death as he reaches for the blue cross.
