Low-budget 1980's film about street-life and hookers...

I saw the movie on cable back in the late 80's or early 90's, and I'm pretty sure it was made in the early 80's. It was about a young woman who has to become a hooker to survive on the streets, either LA or New York. It is not "Streetwalkin'" with Melissa Leo but a similar story, just a lot grimier and lower budget. She is shown gargling with mouthwash after puking after giving her first fellatio, then she laughs about it when she counts her money.
