Looking for adventure? movie

I am looking for a movie I watched on TV a long, long time ago.

The setting and atmosphere were reminiscent of those seen in The Mission and 1492: Conquest of Paradise.

I suspect the film was made in the 1970s, though I'm not certain.

What I remember is a crew aboard a ship searching for a bell. The bell ultimately turns out to be hidden as the dome of a building resembling a church on the edge of a cliff.

I have a vivid memory of a scene where a character enters what seems to be an abandoned church and strikes a small bell hanging from the ceiling. It is later revealed that this ceiling is the actual object of their search.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember anything more.
