Is my memory failing me?

I'm not sure if memory is serving me right, but I seem to remember watching a British horror film on TV when I was a kid that really scared me. We had a B&W TV at that time, but I think the film itself was monochrome. It may have been British. The scenes that stuck with me the most were 1.) a boy being chased through the woods by something unseen (I think he was caught by whatever it was): and 2.) a security guard being killed by the same creature, with the camera showing his face melted off afterward. Does this sound familiar to anyone or are the years playing tricks on my memory?
