Horror movie involving the bad stalker guy tossed into a well by a woman: most horrific scene ever!

Type: probably a COLOR TV episode or telefilm, unlikely to be a movie but could have been. (I will use "film" or "movie" to describe below)

Era: probably '70s or earlier, but could have been up to 1982-ish.

Not a colorized version of older stuff.

Could be from Circle of Fear, Sixth Sense or similar type show.

The key scene I remember: a woman who is probably the homeowner, and probably a friend (male? female?) to help her, are looking into a deep well. For some twisted movie reason, they start cranking up the lever, to bring back up the man she tossed in, earlier in the film/episode, after she killed him.

He was the bad guy who had been trying to kill her. He probably killed her husband. They slowly bring him back up (in a bucket IIRC) and he's all hunched over -- dead.  Of course he's dead: she tossed him in there movie-days ago.

In the most horrific horrorish fashion for a horror movie, hyperbole notwithstanding, next thing you know, he opens his eyes and reaches for her. With the sudden fright music. Huge jumpscare (you had to be there!) Then he goes after her.

This haunted me for a long time. Every time I would see James Coburn in a film, I would point and say "he's the guy from the well" and I would be dismissed: "that's not him". But he looks like him. Or did he? Maybe it was William Jordan in the well? (He of Beyond Westworld.) I went down his bio and I don't see anything that could be it.

So in my mind he forevermore is James Coburn, although he probably doesn't even look like him. Or him:

Thank you for any help here, and for reading. 👍

My latest problem with this site? Besides still unable to clear up bell, cos the "mark all as read" button doesn't do a thing when I click it, now it keeps logging me off every time I leave. I know this because, every time I try to post, (and there's nowhere to find a "sign in" link) a pop up prompts me to sign in. (Why? Never did that before this week!) My password etc is saved on my computer,  so, I ALWAYS tick "Keep me signed in". It no matter: I am asked to re-log in whenever I come back and try to thumb up someone, post a reply or etc. Anyone else has these problems? (MS Edge: no other browsers possible for me.)

In the Stephen King novel Dolores Claiborne, the wife kills her husband by dumping him down a well.  There is a film adaptation, but I haven't seen it.  I believe David Strathairn played the husband role.  It's a newer movie than your time frame (1995) though.

JRD:  1982 (and that's really pushing it as far as I can) is the latest when I could have watched that TV show episode (or telefilm).  IOW: it may have been made anywhere between 1970 and 1982, not after. Could it have been made before 1970? 1959 perhaps, and have been a re-run? Sure, but due to my recollection of clothes and hairstyles, I wouldn't even put it in the sixties decade. And my mother loathed reruns and we were all frightened at our first (and sole) watch, so she wouldn't have seen it previously. Most likely this was filmed somewhere between 1974-1980. (Yes: I *am* that ancient!) 🤫

That said, I appreciate the trivia. I have never watched D.C. so I just scrolled down stephen king's writer credentials: they don't go far back enough so my guess is that stephen king is a vile plagiarist on top of everything else that mires this character's morals.👎  Good to know!
