Horror movie from the late 1990s with disturbing religious imagery
Once when I was a child, I overheard another kid describing a horror movie he had seen a trailer for. I specifically remember him mentioning a shot depicting a "statue of Jesus with blood coming out of its mouth." As a naive young kid from a strictly religious household, this image was deeply disturbing to me (despite not actually seeing it in real life) and the memory of it has always stuck with me. Of course, having never seen it or even knowing the name of it, it's hard to know for sure what movie it might have been. All I know is, based on where I was going to school at the time, it had to have been released between August 1997 and May 2002.
Does anyone know of a film that matches this description?
EDIT: I don't know whether the kid had seen a trailer or watched the entire film in a theater. I only remember the comment he made describing one particular shot.

I was working in a movie theater during most of the time period you are referencing. I will say there were quite a few religious themed horror movies out during that period. My guess it was because of the new century. The ones I can remember include:
Bless the Child
The Devil's Advocate
End of Days
Fallen
Lost Souls
Stigmata
I saw all of these but none of them recently. You might try looking at their trailers on YouTube. That is about all I can suggest.
