Help with a movie NO ONE knows

So I watched this movie as a young child and vaguely remember scenes from it but not enough to find it, what I do remember is:

- The movie is set around a girl who doesn’t like her home life/ has some inner searching to do and she goes into a world of what I think are either drawings or cards (I think it’s drawings) in her room

- The while filming sort of way is a coloured movie but mainly with black and white themes and then there’s splashes of red which I think are surrounded by the villain in the film which I roughly remember being a queen of some sort

- At one point in the movie the girl befriends a guy who I don’t re if he’s a pick pocket in that kind of realm but he goes with her on the travels and I think he may double cross her but I could be wrong?

This movie I have no idea how old it could be I would guess no later than 90s as I’m born in 1996 and I remember the quality of film was not that of a massively old one of the time when I did watch it.

if anyone has any clue of what I could be talking about I would deeply appreciate it but I get there’s not much to go by
