British Empire Spy

Does anyone out there know of this film?  I think the film was made between 1940s and 1960s and staring an actor like Sabu (I can’t find the film amongst his listings).  I think it is a British Empire film located probably in India or Africa.  A local lad is recruited as a spy for the British Army and sent off to be trained (possibly by an Arab).  In his training he is trained to remember different objects on a tray, counting things in the thousands and how to resist be hypnotized.  Once trained he gathers information about enemy troop numbers and reports them back to a British Major.  My feelings are that it is a film a bit like “The Four Feathers” or “The Drum”.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Kim (1950), based on a Rudyard Kipling story. The actor you thought was Sabu was actually a young Dean Stockwell.

Wow, I would have never guessed at Dean Stockwell and Errol Flynn.  I was close with most of the things I said and even Stockwell looks like a little Indian boy (like Sabu).  Thanks for figuring it out for me.
