Amazon Rain Forest movies

There are a lot I know, but I am looking for one that was one either Showtime or Cinemax back in the 80`s. Missionaries went to the jungle and befriended a village of natives. Unfortunately one of the few scenes I recall is one of the male members of the party was standing in a river/stream, and a group of children lined up on a log and watched him. Not much I know but if someone could help I would appreciate it.
