A film about a teenage suicide

All I remember is how the teenage son of this seemingly happy middle-class American family from a leafy suburb walks out into the woods beyond the garden of their house and shoots himself. The remainder of the film is how this puts the marriage of the parents to a test and how the family copes with this. The film would be from late nineties perhaps.
