1970's Distopian Dance Competition

Hello again,

I'm back with more questions. This movie takes place in a distopian future. It looks like a flick you might catch on TCM; think of "Omega Man" (1971) with Charlton Heston. A non-stop dance competition appears to be taking place. It gave off "Hunger Games" vibes like they were dancing for their lives. The inside of the building where the competition is being held looks trashed like the end of New Year's Eve party after the ball drops. Balloons and confetti everywhere. The crowd looks drained as if they'd been dancing for days. The commentator announces how everyone is currently ranked and who is next on the dance floor. Meanwhile, we pan over to two couples meeting on the sidelines. These are the main characters in the film. One of the men is unable to locate his partner. She is missing. He gets increasingly worried that they will be up next to compete. His pal tries to calm him down and offers to look for her. I don't know if they ever find her. That's as much of the movie as I got to see. If you think you know the name, leave a comment. I've tried hunting for the title myself, but Google keeps bombarding me with movies lists like "Top 30 Distopian Films". Thanks for reading.

Steins: It sounds somewhat like They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), but that was set in the past (1930s), not the future.

Wow. How funny.  I just got done watching "Mr. Harrigan's Phone" where they mention the book. To think I was that close to discovering the title of this movie.

And yes you are right. It wasn't set in the future. I only saw the one scene and made an assumption. Thank you for your help.
