YouTube videos are allowed to be listed as "TV Series." Why?

Why are videos that people post to YouTube being allowed to show up on IMDB as a TV Series? I know of two groups who have shot a series of short videos then uploaded them to their YouTube channel. These are showing up on their pages as "TV Series." How is this possible with the seemingly strict criteria that must be met to get something listed here?

It's the result of a poorly documented, and (in my opinion) misguided decision that allows YouTube videos to qualify for eligibility for listing. See the posts by Thomas Porter in the thread at http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/n... for details.

They do still have to meet eligibility criteria, but web-series should be listed with the keyword "web series" to flag up the different type.

However, I don't feel this goes far enough and this should change the title type to "web series" (and we should get similar changes to: web short and web video, for the other types), see:

Lillee Jean is a big offender - she credits herself as writer, director, producer, actor, talk show host, etc. etc.  These are just a teen girl's Instagram calls with her mom & friends, or youtubes of her putting on her makeup.
