Why was this review for "Single All The Way" declined?
Here is the #231027-022934-628504
The note at the bottom says this: Your contribution has been declined. We did not capture a specific reason during processing.
Did I forget to check the "spoiler" box? I'm at a loss.
Here is the review:
As a gay man, I was greatly looking forward to seeing a "gay romcom."
Oh my God. Where do I start?
There is not a single frame of this movie that should be preserved. The entire thing is a fantasy, and not in a good way.
The premise of this screenplay, which is faulty to begin with, and tragic, sad and stupid upon further examination, asks us to accept that Peter (Michael Urie) convinces his best friend Nick (Philemon Chambers) to go home with him for Christmas and "pretend" that they're in a "relationship" so that his family will stop bugging him over his "perpetual single status."
Can you already see everything that is wrong with that premise and can you already guess the outcome? If you have, save yourself 99 minutes of predictability, poor jokes, poor screenwriting, irritating, sad, pathetic, pointless "plot points" and take a yoga class. It will be a lot more enriching and beneficial.
Michael Urie, according to IMDB trivia for this film, insisted that the three young male actors for this film actually be gay so that the "chemistry" would be "more realistic."
There is no chemistry. None. N-O-N-E. Inflatable dolls would have brought as much "chemistry" to each other as these actors did.
Then we have Peter's insanely cheerful, over-the-top, totally accepting family, led by the indomitable Kathy Najimy. Now, I love Kathy and she has an "inner light" and a spark and a sense of mischief in her eyes. But all that aside, it didn't make any difference in this film. One will quickly tire of her "Christmas cheer" and decide that running through dark forests at night, preferably haunted ones, would be more enjoyable then watching her smile her way through the entire movie.
I'm not going to waste my time profiling the other actors or sharing any more of the insipid plot. It's all fake and meaningless and if this was supposed to be a "gay romcom," every single person associated with it should bow their heads in shame and beg forgiveness.
Abominable, atrocious, God-awful on every single level. Not even the great Jennifer Coolidge, who makes a late entrance as "Aunt Sandy" can save this sinking ship.An absolute "no."
