Why was Harry Dean Stanton’s credit removed from the In the Heat of the Night IMDb page?

Harry Dean Stanton had an IMDb credit on the page of the film in which he played a Police Office (albeit uncredited).

For whatever reason the credit has been removed.

Here is the link to the page: tt0061811.

And here is photo proof he appeared in the film

I'm not terribly convinced by that photo. I wasn't even sure which one you thought was him.
Here's a cropped version:

And here's HDS from Cool Hand Luke, also a 1967 release.

Does Stanton get screen credit for Heat? A photo/screengrab of that credit would be useful, as well as a full-face shot of him in Heat.

Here is a snippet of an article about the film

And where is that article, written by whom?
Even professionals mis-identify bit parts sometimes.
Here's a clip with someone who may be that profile you posted, maybe not:

And my screengrab, alongside the Cool Hand Luke still above (both 1967). I'm still not convinced, although they're very close. He speaks briefly in the clip, but that doesn't help sway me, perhaps because the character lacks his usual intensity.

That is my husband, Timothy Scott, not Harry Dean.

has 24 captures of the cast/crew of Heat, most recent being Feb 2018, where Stanton IS listed.
He appears to have been added between March and November 2016.

I (also) have to say (based on these comparisons) that it’s probably not Mr. Stanton. Haven’t seen the actual film in ages, though.

@eboy it’s not Harry Dean.  It’s my late husband, Timothy Scott standing next to Scott Wilson.   They and Harry Dean were friends and often up for the same parts.   They resembled each other.

This isn’t Harry Dean.  It’s my late husband, Timothy Scott.  They knew each other and were often considered for the same roles.   This is Tim Scott as Shagbag and next to him, Scott Wilson as Harvey Oberst.   Tim, Scott and Harry Dean were the same type of character actors, were friends and worked together.
