Why doesn't IMDb fix this issue...changing place of birth.

The spelling of the place of birth for Solomon Georgio is incorrect and I cannot edit it. The system thinks I am changing his date of birth and tells me my correction is invalid.

I see posts from over a year ago about this issue. This is a known issue and IMDb refuses to do anything about it.

This is the message you get if you want to change a place of birth:

When submitting/correcting a date of birth, in the explanation field you must include:

  • Links to public records,
  • Links to printed publications,
  • Links to official documents to accompany your submission

So, I try to correct the spelling of his place of birth (which, BTW is spelled incorrectly on several bio pages. It's LYNNWOOD, not Lynwood) because you know, it's NOT his date of BIRTH, so I figure I don't need to supply any of the above information. I WAS WRONG (again).

I made the correction and after typing in one letter in the explanation box I get this message:

Invalid comment, please make sure it is at least 10 characters long and contains a valid url.

How difficult can it be to do some recoding so that it's possible to change birth place?

It makes no sense for IMDb to not fix this.

I tried to correct the someone's PLACE OF BIRTH, but the system reacts as if I am correcting the birth date and it wants a URL, blah blah blah.

Hi Blanche52 -

When submitting birthdate updates, we require an explanation with linked evidence, unless this required information is provided the form will not allow you to submit.

In the meantime, I was ale to verify the city spelling and made the correction to the data, the change should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!
